Loch Awe, Ireland
The castle, which sits at the northeastern end of Loch Awe, was built around 1450 as a five story tower house with a courtyard defended by an outer wall. It was used until 1760 when it was badly damaged by lightning and was completely abandoned. It is now in the care of Historic Scotland and can be visited in the summer months. The castle, which sits at the northeastern end of Loch Awe, was built around 1450 as a five story tower housewith a courtyard defended by an outer wall.
