"Doolough Pass"
Connemara, Ireland
The panoramic views of the mountains is spectacular from this spot somewhere in County Mayo. The tragic story of this area offers you a taste of its history. During the Irish Potato Famine of 1849, a large number starving people trecked across the prairie and through the pass between the mountains seeking food and assistance, only to be refused when they arrived. The snow and piercing wind was too much and over 100 people lost their lives.
